In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE at all elevations. Backcountry riders and skiers have the potential to trigger slab avalanches to depths of two feet in avalanche terrain. These slabs lie over weak faceted on all aspects. Caution is necessary as tracks are not an indication of stability and slabs may release after others have risked exposure. Yesterday a skier triggered a slab with a two foot crown upon approach to Breccia mountain.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Colder air is expected to move into the area tonight as the current system exits the area. Friday looks to be mostly dry with periods of snow showers possible. Temperatures that are to be in the single digits in the morning should rise into the mid teens in the afternoon. Winds are to be northwesterly and decreasing from twenty five mile per hour averages to fifteen mile per hour averages. The general avalanche hazard will be Considerable. DANGEROUS conditions exist in the backcountry. In most avalanche terrain, slabs with depths up to six feet could be triggered by the first person on it or after a slope has been crossed many times. The possibility continues for some slabs to release naturally as changing winds or sunlight provide enough additional stress to cause their failure.
