Dangerous avalanche conditions exist. You can trigger a deadly avalanche on many different weak layers on higher-elevation north-facing slopes and wet avalanches on sunny slopes or low-elevation shady slopes. There have been numerous close calls and very large natural avalanches in the last week, highlighting the dangerous conditions we are facing right now, and you can expect these avalanches to be easier to trigger on Wednesday and Thursday. If you are traveling in avalanche terrain, plan to start and end your day early and stick to south-facing slopes or lower-angle slopes on aspects where there are multiple buried persistent weak layers.
If you want to drastically reduce your chances of getting caught in an avalanche, just hold off on stepping into steeper terrain for a couple more days. Once things cool down this weekend, the danger is expected to quickly decrease.
