In sintesi
New snow and wind over the last few days has created new soft slabs to two feet in depth at upper elevations. These slabs lie on a mix of surface hoar, graupel, and crusts and can be triggered by backcountry users today at high elevations. At mid elevations pockets of these slabs could also be human triggered on steep wind loaded slopes. Once triggered these slabs have the potential to pull out deeper layers of unstable snow to five feet in depth on Northwest to Easterly slopes that lie on faceted snow near the ground. At low elevations the snowpack has become less stable due to a lack of freezing for the last two nights and pockets of slab could release to the ground on steep slopes as warming occurs.
