Recent snow and strong west to southwest winds have formed slabs in steep exposed terrain at the high elevations. Riders and skiers have the potential to trigger these slabs to depths of three feet. These slabs could become significantly more sensitive today as warm temperatures weaken them, particularly in areas of direct sunlight. Yesterday several slides were human triggered under these conditions and today's temperatures are notably warmer. At mid elevations isolated pockets to a foot could be triggered and at low elevations avalanche activity is likely to be limited to small wet loose activity on very steep terrain features.

A storm is to bring snow to the area starting Thursday evening and continuing through Friday morning. The storm is to bring cooler temperatures with a daytime high near twenty degrees expected. Southwest winds are to be very strong overnight with averages possibly above thirty miles per hour before veering to the west and lessening to twenty mile per hour averages during the day.The general avalanche hazard could rise to Considerable at high elevations if enough new snow and wind build new surface slabs on top of the dense to hard snow surfaces that formed today. New surface slabs will be the primary hazard although in some areas the chance to trigger recent snow to total depths of three feet may persist.
