Avalanche Summary

Be careful in steep, rocky near treeline areas. You can trigger dangerous avalanches in these spots. Start and end your day early to avoid wet avalanches. Look for warning signs that the avalanche danger is increasing, such as a wet, gloppy snow surface, and rollerballs, or small point releases running from steep rocky terrain. If you stand on the snow surface and find yourself sinking deeper than your boot tops into wet, unconsolidated snow, it's time to call it a day. Be careful traveling under or standing on cornices.

We will stop issuing danger ratings on June 1. We will update Avalanche Summaries when conditions change, so click the map to get the latest conditions. Keep sending us your field reports. We rely on your information to stay current on avalanche conditions across the state. There have been fatal avalanche accidents every month of the year in Colorado, so just because it's June doesn't mean you can let your guard down.
