In sintesi

Several sizable natural slab avalanches were visble yesterday morning on upper elevation northeast aspects in the Static Peak area, on a southeast aspect of Mt. Wister and out of the Northest Couloir of the Grand in Grand Teton National Park. A few small pockets of slab have also been observed at elevations of 8,000 to 8,600 feet. Areas of unstable snow exist at the mid and upper elevations. Slabs up to two feet in depth lie upon a weak layer of faceted snow and could be triggered on steep wind loaded aspects. At the lower elevations the snowpack is shallow and avalanches are unlikely except in isolated pockets.
