Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Avalanches can be released, mostly by large loads. As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist avalanches being released will increase gradually. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. The backcountry touring conditions are mostly favourable.
In all regions only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year. The snowpack will be subject to considerable local variations. The wind slabs are lying on weak layers on shady slopes.
