Avalanche Activity

Fresh wind slabs represent the main danger.

The mostly small wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads,. On wind-loaded slopes and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls more small to medium-sized avalanches are possible. As a consequence of the solar radiation, the likelihood of natural avalanches being released will increase in particular on very steep sunny slopes.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities up to 20 cm of snow has fallen since Sunday above approximately 1200 m. As a consequence of a strong wind from northerly directions, mostly small wind slabs formed since Sunday above the tree line. The wind slabs are clearly recognisable. The old snowpack is wet. Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be good. At intermediate and high altitudes snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

Tendency

As a consequence of rising temperatures solar radiation the snowpack will consolidate during the next few days.
