Over a wide area 20 to 40 cm of snow will fall until Saturday above approximately 2300 m, in particular in the regions neighbouring those that are subject to danger level 4 (high). As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from westerly directions, avalanche prone wind slabs will form from early morning above the tree line. In particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain the prevalence and size of these avalanche prone locations will increase as the day progresses,, also at a distance from ridgelines. The fresh snow and the mostly small wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant. Backcountry touring and other off-piste activities call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection. Moist and wet avalanches are still possible in particular in the early morning. In the afternoon small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are possible. These can release the wet old snow as well and reach large size in isolated cases.

Less snow than usual is lying. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night. The snowpack will be moist. This applies in all aspects below approximately 2800 m. The old snowpack will be wet all the way through below approximately 2300 m. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.

The avalanche danger will persist.
