Avalanche Activity

Wet and gliding snow require caution.

Until the temperature drops there will be an increase in the danger of moist avalanches within the current danger level. Moist loose snow avalanches are to be expected, but they will be mostly small. In addition a latent danger of gliding avalanches exists, in particular on steep slopes below approximately 2200 m. Areas with glide cracks are to be avoided. The more recent wind slabs are mostly shallow and can only be released by large loads in most cases. Over a wide area 2 to 5 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, will fall in the evening above approximately 1200 m.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be moist below approximately 2200 m. The snowpack is largely stable.

Tendency

In some localities 15 to 30 cm of snow will fall above approximately 1500 m. The new snow of Wednesday is to be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above the tree line. The danger of loose snow avalanches will increase but remain within the current danger level.
