Avalanche Activity

The wind has transported only a little snow. As the day progresses in particular in the south there will be an increase in the danger of moist avalanches within the current danger level.

The mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in particular on northwest to north to southeast facing aspects. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on northwest to north to southeast facing aspects above approximately 2400 m. As a consequence of warming small moist avalanches are possible above approximately 1800 m.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is largely stable and its surface has a crust that is strong in many cases. This applies in particular below approximately 2800 m. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard crust. Faceted weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.
