Strong to gale force winds will continue today.  A trace of new snow fell overnight with some light snow possible for today.  Limited amounts of existing snow remains for wind transport with firm crusts and wind scoured surfaces present.  Avalanche activity will remain unlikely today.  Additional snow is expected tonight with the possibility of increased wind slab avalanche concerns for Tuesday.

Look for blowing snow today.  If any areas receive more snow than expected, small wind slabs could start to form near ridges, in gully features, and in open areas.

Although winds were strong today, we saw no blowing snow on nearby features.  Round Top, Carson Pass area.

Avalanche Discussion

Expect variable snow surface conditions, with supportable and breakable crusts on sun-exposed slopes, wind-affected snow in exposed areas, and patches of softer snow lingering in sheltered and shaded places.  Dust on crust conditions will also be found in some areas.  Mostly cloudy skies and strong winds should limit any wet snow formation today.
