Moderate to strong South West winds are likely to shift fresh snow overnight Friday and on Saturday.
Expect reactive Wind Slab to exist.
Careful terrain selection and a conservative approach are advised.
Deposits of Wind Slab may exist on a range of aspects. However, be particularly wary of slopes facing North through to East above about 1700m. Stay clear of ridge line entry points and other steep unsupported slopes if you encounter stiff, wind driven snow.If unsure, choose moderate angled, wide open slopes.
Saturday - a few showers clearing to a fine afternoon. Snow possible to 400m. Moderate to strong South West winds dying out. Freezing level - 900m dropping to 600m.
Fresh snow will reduce the sliding danger. However, keep in mind that the underlying snowpack remains shallow with many thinly covered rocks.

Observations have been hampered over the past 48 hours by a North West storm and extended periods of poor visibility .

A significant amount of new snow has fallen over the past 48 hours (50cm in the Albert Burn and at least 20cm further east). Prior to the most recent storm, the snow pack was mostly stable. Having said that, facets and depth hoar (weak, sugary forms) have been found in places. These pockets of questionable strength are most likely to exist in steep, shady areas (facing East to South). Loading over the next few days will test these layers.
