In sintesi

Continued mild temperatures and some rain will further increase the water content in the snowpack. The snowpack consists largely of coarse‑grained, melt‑transformed snow that generally drains water well, but wet loose avalanche may still occur in very steep terrain. Avoid spending time in runout zones where heavy rain is falling on the snow.

Glide avalanches may also occur where water accumulates above smooth bed surfaces such as rock slabs.

Fortsatt mildvær og litt regn vil øke vanninnholdet i snødekket ytterligere. Snødekket består i stor grad av grovkornet, smelteomvandlet snø som ventes å drenerer vann godt, men ett og annet vått løssnøskred kan likevel forekomme i svært bratt terreng. Unngå opphold i utløpsområder der det kommer mye regn på snøen.

Glideskred kan forekomme der vann samler seg over glatte underlag som svaberg.

Snowpack Structure

I lavlandet og kystnære strøk er det stort sett bart. Og også høyere til fjells har snødekke et vårlig preg etter kraftig smelting den siste tiden.

På Hinnøya finnes det sammenhengende snø fra cirka 300 moh. og oppover, men i resten av regionen må man enda høyere til fjells for å finne skiføre.

Tendency

High temperatures and strong sunshine will increase snowmelt and add more water to the snowpack. The limited snow cover that remains is mostly coarse‑grained, melt‑transformed snow that drains water well, and overall stability is good. However, wet loose avalanches may still occur in very steep terrain, especially where the snow is thoroughly saturated.

Glide avalanches may also occur where water accumulates above smooth bed surfaces such as rock slabs. These avalanches are unpredictable, and it is wise to avoid spending time in runout zones below snow‑covered slabby terrain.
