Avalanche Activity

Moist and wet avalanches are to be expected as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. Fresh wind slabs at high altitude.

The fresh wind slabs are in some cases quite large and can be released by large loads in particular, especially on steep slopes at high altitude adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. As a consequence of warming and solar radiation, the natural avalanche activity will gradually increase. This applies in particular on sunny slopes below approximately 2200 m, and in steep rocky terrain. Be careful, many rocks hidden by fresh snow.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind, sometimes large wind slabs formed in the last few days. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise from early morning to increasing moistening of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. Above the tree line snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
