Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to slowly thaw, be well consolidated and stable. Most extensive areas will be found on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres in the higher coires. Other areas on the mountains are largely snow free. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be a small amount of rain overnight, then a mainly dry and cloudy day during Saturday with a slight chance of some drizzle. South Westerly winds, will decrease to moderate by dawn, then increase to Fresh in the afternoon. Freezing level will remain above the summits throughout. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with a mix of cloud and sunshine. Winds were South South-Westerly and Very Strong to Gale force on the tops. Freezing level was well above the summits, with air temperatures around 5 to 6 degrees Celsius at munro level. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack continues to thaw and is well consolidated. Most extensive snow amounts can be found above 800 metres, on North through East to South-East aspects in the higher coires. The snow here is generally softening in the warmer temperatures, with some high shaded areas maintaining a firmer surface. The avalanche hazard is Low.
