In sintesi

Generally stable avalanche conditions exist. Cold overnight temperatures allowed for the snow surface to refreeze. Wet snow avalanches are unlikely to occur, but should not be overlooked. Pay attention to changing conditions, and move away from slopes that become wet and unsupportable.

While unlikely, wet snow avalanches could occur this afternoon as skies clear throughout the day. The danger will be highest on very steep slopes and around cliffs that expedite heating. The likelihood of triggering a wet slab avalanche has decreased with a second night of below-freezing temperatures, but due to their unpredictable nature, they can't be ruled out. If you see signs of warming - such as wet surface snow, roller balls, or natural wet avalanches - consider adjusting your terrain choice. Limit your time on steep slopes with unsupportable or mushy snow.

Avalanche Discussion

Cornices - Cooler temperatures should help stabilize cornices, but after several days of warm temperatures, they may still be sensitive. I would give them room and minimize my time underneath these large hunks of snow.

Broken cloud cover may produce isolated lightning strikes today. Keep your ears open for thunder.

Several bear sightings have been reported this spring. When planning for the day, bear spray, group travel, and appropriate food storage should be considered.

Also, please remember that closed ski areas are now uncontrolled and could have avalanche problems.  Keep this in mind if skinning up or skiing on very steep ski area runs.
