NC for 14.12: A firm snowpack up until the afternoon when it will begin to soften but remain well bonded throughout. Low Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Initially the widespread snowpack will remain firm at all altitudes. During the afternoon it will begin to soften but will remain well bonded and stable throughout. As it turns milder any remaining cornices could potentially collapse. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: It is expected to be dry throughout the forecast period with very strong Westerly winds. The 700 to 600 metre freezing level will rise sharply through the afternoon to above summit levels by the end of the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day with fresh Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 900 metres. ObservedSnowStability: The widespread firm snowpack continues to consolidate on all aspects and altitudes, where it remains generally well bonded and stable throughout. The avalanche hazard is Low.
