Areas of unstable snow exist. At high elevations backcountry riders and skiers have the potential to trigger pockets of soft to hard slabs with depths up to eighteen inches. These slabs lie in very steep terrain near ridge crests where strong winds throughout this week have deposited snow. At the mid elevations the hazard is limited to isolated pockets to ten inch depths and avalanches are unlikely at low elevations today.

Expect increasing cloud cover and a chance for a few light flurries during the day on Sunday. Overnight lows in the mountains will be near 20 rising to around 30 in the afternoon. Westerly ridgetop winds will remain strong at 25 to 35 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE above 9,000 feet where backcountry travelers could trigger pockets of wind slab up to 18 inches deep in steep, wind loaded terrain. Below 9,000 feet, the hazard is LOW and avalanches are unlikely except for isolated pockets of surface slab up to 12 inches deep on very steep, wind loaded slopes.
