The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Four to twelve inches of drifted loose snow from the past few days and soft slabs are poorly bonded to slick suncrusts and firm wind pack. Sunday, a 12 inch soft slab was triggered by a snowmobiler on an east facing slope of Two Ocean Peak, and is indicative of the good sliding surfaces that are present. These surface slabs and sluffs still have the potential of triggering deeper hard slabs with severe consequences. Warm forecasted temperatures will further weaken the snowpack and lower elevation areas with shallow snow have the potential for wet, loose slides. Stay out of steep ravines and away from road cuts.

The flow from the southwest will move to the south of the region cutting off accumulating snow by Wednesday evening. Total snowfall will range from 3 to 6 inches by Wednesday afternoon and the mountains will see high temperatures in the mid twenties. The Togwotee Pass and Greys River areas will receive less snow.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be MODERATE Wednesday morning. Pockets of sensitive slabs to ten inches in depth on lee slopes near ridgecrests could be triggered. Deeper, dangerous slides running on buried weak layers will continue to be possible.
