In steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain in the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger soft slabs up to two feet deep along with loose snow sluffs in less wind affected areas. Any extended periods of sunshine will make these slides more susceptible to failure. Use cautious route finding and avoid heavily wind drifted slopes. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations except for isolated pockets of soft slab up to a foot deep in very steep, wind loaded terrain.

Skies will be overcast as a new fetch of moisture moves in from the southwest. Light snow is forecast to develop overnight and become widespread in the morning hours and decrease in intensity in the afternoon. Accumulations of three to five inches are possible in the southern portion of our forecast region with two to three inches possible in the northern areas. Temperatures will be in the teens and 20’s. Winds will be southeast at five to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Soft surface slabs up to two feet in depth could be triggered by humans who venture into steep wind loaded avalanche paths.
