At the mid and upper elevations the hazard will rapidly increase as strong west winds and new snow create dangerous avalanche conditions. New soft slabs up to two feet in depth are expected to form and be rapidly loaded with new snow. These slabs are likely to be easily triggered by a single person and may release naturally. Excellent route finding skills and conservative terrain decisions are essential for safe travel in avalanche terrain. At the lower elevations the hazard will increase but remain LOW.

A fast moving short wave trough will bring light snowfall overnight with accumulations of two to four inches possible. On Saturday skies will be overcast with the potential for some light snowfall. More significant snowfall is likely to develop in the evening. Temperatures will be in the teens. Winds will back from the northwest to the southwest at 15 to 20 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Dense shallow wind slabs up to a foot deep could be human triggered on steep slopes and have potential to step down to three feet in depth in cliff areas, near cornices and on the steep walls of cirques and basins. Careful evaluation of snow and terrain features will be necessary in avalanche terrain.
