Avalanche Summary

You could trigger an avalanche on a steep open slope and if you find and shallow area and affect weak layers in the upper meter of the snowpack. Likely trigger points exist near rock outcroppings, on steep rollovers, and below ridges and cliff bands. The snowpack is deeper and stronger near Wolf Creek and Cumbres but shallower north of the divide. If you plan to recreate in the northern sections of the forecast area check out the forecast to the north as it is more appropriate for snowpacks with a average snow depth of around 125 cm's or less.

You can find safer riding options at lower elevations, and slopes less than about 35 degrees sheltered from the wind without steep overhead hazards. Sun and warming in the afternoon could trigger small loose avalanche on sunny slopes in the afternoon.
