Backcountry travelers could trigger surface slabs up to two feet in depth on steep, mid and upper elevation starting zones. If mostly clear skies prevail throughout the day, these slides will be easier to initiate in the afternoon, along with the chance of shallow wet slides on lower elevation, sunlit aspects.

The westerly flow will continue overnight but little snow is expected until the next moisture bearing system brings more significant snowfall and increasing westerly winds during the day Tuesday. Morning lows will be near ten degrees at 10,500 feet and winds will be westerly at 20 miles per hour in the morning backing to southwesterly and increasing to 30 by afternoon. Temperatures will rise to the mid twenties.No avalanches have been reported since Friday with the exception of a natural, small slide that occurred on steepening terrain off the north side of Rendezvous Peak in a closed area of the Jackson Hole Resort early Monday morning possibly due to a cornice collapse and/or drifted snow from gusty ridge top winds. New snow and winds will keep the chance of triggering similar slides in steep, upper elevation lee slopes near ridge tops. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate Tuesday in the Tetons. The Greys River and Togwotee Pass areas have received less recent snow and the hazard in those areas is expected to continue Low.
