In sintesi

At the mid and upper elevations, backcountry travelers could trigger dense surface slabs up to two feet deep in steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain. Yesterday afternoon, two skiers were caught in small slides on southeast, mid elevation slopes. Similar events remain possible today. These slides, along with shallow wet loose sluffs, will become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects if clear skies prevail in the afternoon. Evaluate the snow and terrain carefully and use good travel habits.

Avalanche Discussion

Expect high pressure to slowly move east, bringing increased cloud cover on Monday and a chance of light, scattered afternoon mountain snow showers. Inverted temperatures will start to diminish with mountain and valley highs in the mid 30s. Ridgetop winds will be southwesterly at 15 to 25 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain MODERATE on Monday. Backcountry travelers could trigger dense surface slabs up to two feet deep in very steep, wind loaded avalanche terrain above 8000 feet. These slides, along with shallow wet loose sluffs, will become more susceptible to failure on sunlit aspects if clear skies prevail in the afternoon. The snowpack is mostly stable below 8000 feet and avalanches are unlikely.
