In sintesi

Fresh and older wind slabs require caution.

Problemi valanghivi

  • Wind slab

    • Above 2,500 m
  • Wet snow

    • 1,800 m–2,500 m

Avalanche Activity

Fresh and older wind slabs require caution.

In some localities 2 to 5 cm of snow fell on Tuesday above approximately 2500 m. The wind will be moderate to strong adjacent to ridgelines over a wide area. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in isolated cases above approximately 2500 m. The mostly small wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects above approximately 2500 m.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack is moist and its surface has a crust that is not capable of bearing a load. In the regions exposed to rain this applies in particular below approximately 2500 m. In addition wind slabs formed adjacent to ridgelines in all aspects and generally in the high Alpine regions. In the afternoon the wind slabs will increase in size moderately.

Tendency

On Friday the wind will be strong to storm force in the Dolomites. As a consequence of the wind the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent.
