In sintesi

Cooling temperatures on Saturday after a prolongued melt-freeze cycle will result in avalanches being unlikely. If you chose to venture onto exposed, steep terrain, be sure to have the equipment and skillset to arrest a sliding fall.

Avalanche Discussion

Despite recent overnight temperatures staying above freezing, we have been seeing consistent overnight freezes to our upper snowpack, courtesy of radiative cooling to the snow surface. This has resulted in a sustained melt-freeze cycle over the last several days and a well settled mid- and lower- snowpack. Some light rain overnight Friday followed by cooling temperatures and trace snowfall will make up the prime ingredients for what is often referred to as a "locked in" snowpack. Be advised that there are variable surface conditions currently around our terrain, including debris from ample wet avalanche activity on steep solar slopes. All of these factors could result in challenging and firm travel conditions on Saturday.
