In sintesi

Cold temperatures, following last weeks warm period with significant rain has resulted in a stable snowpack in which a hard crust prevails near the snow surface. A few inches of new snow lies upon that hard crust. Watch for unstable new snow on isolated terrain features and for early season hazards.

Avalanche Discussion

Zonal flow aloft with embedded moisture will keep skies partly to mostly cloudy on Saturday, and a few light flurries might be possible. Overnight lows in the mountains will be in the upper teens before rising into the mid-20s during the day. Southwesterly ridgetop winds will range from 10 to 20 miles per hour. The snowpack is mostly stable, and the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW on Saturday. Skiers and riders might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of shallow soft slab in very steep leeward terrain near upper elevation ridgelines. Avalanche activity below the late November crusts is unlikely, and the lower elevations are mostly free of snow.
