The East South mountains are about to get pummeled by another 1-2 inches of rain, producing natural avalanches of all types and sizes. These include slabs, wet loose, cornices, and even glide avalanches. Some avalanches may grow very large in areas with a deeper snowpack that hold a weak layer that sits 3-4 ft below the surface. We have a troubled snowpack across the eastern mountains, and heavy rain will surely not help matters.
Wednesday will be a great day to avoid all areas where avalanches can start, run, or stop.
It may be easy for you to trigger avalanches of similar size and depth on Wednesday.
