In sintesi
The avalanche danger is MODERATE today. The most likely place for a person to trigger an avalanche is along the upper ridgelines on steep slopes. Look for any recent avalanches to get an idea if the new snow is unstable. Watch for cracking in the snow which is another indicator of instability.
Snow and Weather
Current Conditions: Not a whole lot more snow fell over the last 24 hours. Storm totals are about 6 inches at most stations. I did have one report from a cabin owner in Cedar Creek that said he received a foot of snow at his cabin at 8500'. Northwest wind was a bit gusty mid day yesterday but has slowed. Temperatures are right at 0˚F at most stations.
Mountain Weather: We'll see unsettled weather through the end of the week. We'll see clouds and perhaps light snow today. Temperatures will remain cold today perhaps not getting out of the single digits. Temperatures will gradually warm through the rest of the week. Another shot of snow is possible for Thursday which is looking like 2 to 5 inches possible.
