The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs formed by the strong wind represent the main danger. Large quantities of fresh snow and the wind-drifted snow of the weekend can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant, above approximately 2200 m. On steep slopes and on wind-loaded slopes the avalanche situation is dangerous. Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released in deep layers reach quite a large size especially on steep north, northwest and northeast facing slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Fresh snow and large quantities of wind-drifted snow of the weekend will be deposited on a weakly bonded old snowpack above approximately 2200 m. Weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on north, northeast and northwest facing slopes.
