Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will freeze and further stabilise in the cold settled conditions. The greatest accumulations will remain on North through East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Any fresh deposits will be very shallow, isolated and avoidable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight the freezing level will drop to 700 metres where it will remain throughout the day. There will be a few light showers which will fall as snow above 500 metres. Westerly winds. Observed Weather Influences: It was a dry day with moderate to strong South-Westerly winds. The freezing level rose through the morning to just above the summits where it remained for the rest of the day. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is gently thawing and consolidating in the mild dry conditions. However, some instabilities remain in the recently deposited windslab on steep wind sheltered North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. Windward aspects hold little snow. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
