Salt River and Wyoming Ranges

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Strong west winds and snow Friday and continuous westerly winds through the weekend created dense wind slabs up to a foot deep on leeward aspects. At the mid and upper elevations these surface slabs could be human triggered on steep slopes. Snow machiners have the greater potential to trigger slides that step down to depths of three feet in cliff areas, near cornices and on the steep walls of basins. Warm temperatures will make triggering slides easier. Be alert to changing conditions and evaluate snow and terrain features carefully.

Temperatures in the mountains will cool slightly to the mid 20s by Monday morning and rise to the upper 20s during the day.
