In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is Moderate above an elevation of 8,500 feet. New surface slabs were formed by west winds on Sunday. Backcountry travelers could trigger these slabs, up to 18 inches deep, in steep, wind-loaded avalanche terrain. On sun-affected aspects, any extended periods of sunshine will make these slabs more susceptible to failure along with the chance of loose snow sluffs. Below an elevation of 8,500 feet the general avalanche hazard is Low. If clear skies prevail, shallow wet slides could also occur in the afternoon on sunlit slopes with an underlying snowpack below 7,000 feet.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Scattered snow showers are expected to dissipate by Monday morning, followed by partly to mostly cloudy skies. Overnight lows in the mountains will drop to near 10 before rising to near 20 on Monday. Ridgetop winds will veer to the northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 8,500 feet on Monday and Low below 8,500 feet. Backcountry travelers could trigger dense surface slabs, one to two feet deep in steep, wind-loaded avalanche terrain. On sun-affected aspects, any extended periods of sunshine will make these slabs more susceptible to failure along with the chance of loose snow sluffs, and shallow wet slides at the lower elevations.
