Recent snow that was accompanied by strong southwest to west winds have formed soft surface slabs in steep high elevation terrain that is prone to wind loading. Skiers and riders have the potential to trigger pockets of these slabs today to depths of two feet. At mid elevations, small pockets of slab to depths of one foot could be triggered, particularly in very steep terrain features. Avalanches at low elevations are unlikely today.

Periods of snow are expected overnight, followed by a break in the morning before a stronger pulse of moisture brings snow Friday afternoon and night. Southwest winds with averages between ten and twenty miles per hour and high temperatures in the mid twenties are expected. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be moderate above an elevation of 9000 feet where skiers and riders have the potential to trigger soft slabs with depths to two feet in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain. Avalanches below 9000 feet are unlikely except for in the form of isolated pockets with depths to one foot in very steep terrain or in shallow new surface slabs or sluffs depending on how much new snow is received.
