In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Old weaknesses persist near the base of the snowpack. In steep avalanche terrain, the possibility continues to trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches in limited but hard to predict areas. The triggering of these slabs will likely require larger loads such as snowmobiles or groups of riders or skiers however one person travelling over a particularly weak, thin point on the slope could initiate such a slide.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Increasing Pacific moisture and clouds are expected to bring light snow to mountains Thursday morning through Thursday night. Winds are to be Westerly at 10-20mph and mountain temperatures to be in the low twenties throughout the day. The avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate on Thursday. In steep terrain some possibility remains for backcountry riders or skiers to trigger hard slab avalanches that lie upon weak snow near the base of the snowpack. Slopes still susceptible to failure exist in a limited amount of terrain and their location is hard to predict. Larger loads such as snowmobiles or groups of people are more likely to initiate these slides.
