Pockets of surface slabs that formed over the weekend lie in very steep avalanche terrain at the high elevations. At mid elavations small isolated pockets of slab exist on very steep wind loaded features. Avalanches are unlikely at the lower elevations.
Winds slabs up to two feet in depth persist in very steep aggressive terrain such as couloirs and exposed cliff areas. These slabs could be human triggered today.
As the trough moves through central Wyoming overnight and Wednesday morning light snowfall is expected in the Wyoming and Salt River ranges and snow showers are possible in the Tetons. Again, eastern portions of the winds are likely to see the most significant accumulations. Mountain temperatures are to rise into the upper teens and northeast winds with ten to twenty mile per hour averages are expected. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate above 8500 where slab avalanches to two feet could be triggered in very steep wind loaded terrain. Below 8500 feet isolated pockets of slab could be triggered, particularly in the areas that received more significant snowfall.
