In sintesi

Deep slab avalanches failing on buried layers of faceted snow remain a concern on steep avalanche prone slopes at the upper elevations, especially during the warmest portion of the day. Isolated pockets of new soft slab up to a foot in depth and loose snow sluffs could also be human triggered in steep avalanche starting zones and cliff areas above an elevation of 9,000 feet. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,500 feet.

At the higher elevations buried layers of faceted snow continue to be a concern in steep active avalanche paths that face north through east to south. Some potential remains for snowmobilers to trigger dangerous deep slab avalanches up to three feet deep on these slopes.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )This high pressure ridge is expected to dominate the weather during the next several days. Strong radiational cooling will occur under clear skies overnight. Morning temperatures will be near zero or in the single digits below zero in the valleys and in the single digits above zero in the mountains. Daytime highs will rise into the 20s in the mountains.Weak layers of faceted snow persist in the snowpack in the Togwotee Pass/Continental Divide area where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE. Dense slab avalanches with depths to three could be triggered by snowmobiles in steep upper elevation avalanche paths. Mostly stable snow exists in the Teton and Greys River/Southwest Trails areas where the general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW.
