Strong northwest winds redistributed the new snow late yesterday afternoon and during the overnight hours. At the upper elevations small pockets of wind slab could be human triggered in steep terrain. These slabs could carry people down very steep slopes, into obstacles or over cliffs in extreme terrain. Avalanches are unlikely except in isolated pockets at the mid elevations. Stable snow exist at the lower elevations.
At the upper elevations small pockets of wind slab up to a foot in depth could be triggered in steep wind loaded avalanche stating zones, cliff areas and extreme terrain. These slabs were formed by southwest and northwest winds.
A high pressure ridge is building into the region. Skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures will drop into the single digits overnight and rise into the 20s during the day. Winds will be light at 10 to 15 miles per hour from the northwest.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW in all areas except for the higher elevations of the Continental Divide/Togwotee Pass area where a remote chance persists for snowmachines to trigger deep hard slabs up to three in depth in isolated areas. In all areas, small pockets of wind slab up to a foot in depth could be human triggered in very steep terrain at the upper elevations
