In sintesi

Soft surface slabs up to 18 inches in depth lie upon excellent sliding surfaces comprised of buried surface hoar and suncrust. Two days ago an 18 inch deep surface slide was skier triggered on Mt. Oliver in the Snake River Range. Yesterday a 14 inch deep surface slab released in the Hoback Canyon and put three feet of snow on the highway. Similar events could occur today. In addition deep slab instabilities persist and older slabs 2 to 4 feet in depth could also be triggered. Loose snow sluffs are possible on steeper terrain where surface slabs have not formed. Be aware of terrain traps.
