The General Avalanche Hazard is Low at all elevations. The early season snowpack is mostly stable and avalanches are unlikely. Backcountry travelers who venture in cliff areas and steep north facing couloirs could trigger isolated pockets of slab up to one foot in depth. Take note of the spatial extent of surface hoar and how it varies with elevation and exposure to sun. With light snowfall in the forecast, this potential weak layer could be buried intact.

The high pressure ridge that has been over the area is forecasted to depart Saturday night as the first in a series of upper level disturbances moves through the region. This system will increase cloud cover and may produce a trace of new snow by Sunday morning with an additional inch during the day on Sunday. Overnight temperatures at all elevations are projected to dip into the mid teens before rising into the low 20s in the mountains, and near freezing in the valley. Southwest winds are expected to temporarily increase to 20 to 30 mph Saturday night before dropping back into the low teens by Sunday morning.With little to no snowfall in the forecast, the General Avalanche Hazard is expected to remain LOW at all elevations.
