The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE at Upper elevations and LOW at the Mid and Low elevations. Above 9,000 feet, pockets of slab 6 to 18 inches in depth could be triggered by backcountry travelers in steep, wind loaded starting zones near ridge crests. Below 9,000 feet, mostly stable snow exists and avalanches are unlikely.

A strong temperature inversion is expected to build Saturday night as a dry airmass with warmer temperatures advects into the region at the mountain top level. This airmass will keep overnight lows at the upper elevations in the negative single digits as the valley plummets into the negative teens. Light winds, 10-15 mph, should continue out of the Northwest.The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be LOW at all elevations on Sunday. Mostly stable snow exists, and avalanches are unlikely. Low avalanche hazard does not mean no avalanche hazard, and backcountry travelers could still trigger isolated pockets of slab 6 to 12 inches in depth on steep, wind loaded starting zones near ridge crests.
