In sintesi

The general avalanche hazard at the upper elevations is MODERATE where recent snow and winds have formed slabs up to two feet in depth. Pockets of these slabs could be human triggered today in steep avalanche terrain where they are underlain by a hard crust. Expected snow and strong winds today could increase the size and sensitivity of these surface slabs this afternoon. Avalanches are not likely at mid and low elevations where snow depths are shallow and old snow layers are non-existent.

Avalanche Discussion

Snow showers and temperatures in the teens tonight will bring a couple inches of snow to the mountains. Another system will pass over the area Friday and Friday night but will briing only light amounts of snow.Temperatures will be warm with near or above freezing temperatures at lower elevations. Winds will be westerly at twenty miles per hour. The General Avalanche Hazard at high elevations is expected to remain MODERATE. Pockets of slab to two feet could be triggered in steep terrain underlain by the old, slick snow crust. In areas without the crust, avalanches are unlikely as the newer snow lies directly on the ground.
