In sintesi

The General Avalanche Hazard is MODERATE. Soft surface slabs to a foot deep formed over the weekend by south and east winds in the southern and eastern portions of the region. Above 8,000 feet, older hard slabs to three feet in depth, which rest on buried weak layers of faceted snow, persist. The deeper slides may require larger triggers like a second rider going to aid a stuck machine highmarking.

Avalanche Discussion

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. ) Wednesday will have increasing clouds through the day as a disturbance moves in the from the northwest bringing light snow by evening. 9500 foot temperatures will rise to the low teens above cold valley floor inversions. Ridgetop winds will be light in the morning then 10 to 15 miles per hour from the northwest by evening. The General Avalanche Hazard will be Moderate. Pockets of surface slabs to eighteen inches deep on slopes receiving drifted snow over the past few days are possible. Concern continues for dangerous, more difficult to trigger deeper hard slabs on easterly to northerly slopes.
