In sintesi

As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs formed at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions.

Snowpack Structure

15 to 20 cm of snow has fallen above approximately 2400 m. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions there is still a very large amount of snow. The spring-like weather conditions gave rise to increasing settling of the snowpack in particular at low and intermediate altitudes. The rain gave rise on Tuesday to thorough wetting of the snowpack below the tree line.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of new snow and wind, wind slabs formed at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions.

The new snow and wind slabs can be released easily at high altitude, in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation caution is to be exercised on very steep slopes. In isolated cases the avalanches are medium-sized but can be released also by a single winter sport participant. In particular low altitudes: As the moisture increases more moist and wet snow slides are possible, but they will be mostly small.
