The small wind slabs represent the main danger.
The soft wind slabs represent the main danger, especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Avalanches can in very isolated cases penetrate near-ground layers of the snowpack and reach medium size. The avalanche prone locations are sometimes covered with new snow and are barely recognisable because of the poor visibility. Restraint should be exercised because avalanches can sweep people along and give rise to falls.
In particular in the south 5 to 10 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, has fallen. The fresh wind slabs are lying on unfavourable layers in particular on steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Steep sunny slopes: As a consequence of mild temperatures and solar radiation a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. Snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind.
Saturday: The avalanche danger will persist.
