Avalanche Activity

Up to 2200 m rain has fallen since yesterday in some regions. Increase in danger of dry and moist avalanches as a consequence of the rain.

Up to 2200 m rain has fallen since yesterday in some regions. In particular steep slopes: The danger of moist snow slides and avalanches will already exist in the early morning. Also high altitudes and the high Alpine regions: The sleet gave rise to significant moistening of the snowpack. As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation individual mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible. Below approximately 1900 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying.

Snowpack Structure

The rain gave rise to extreme and thorough wetting of the old snowpack below approximately 2200 m. The sleet gave rise to significant moistening of the snowpack above approximately 2200 m. The surface of the snowpack will cool hardly at all during the overcast night and will already be soft in the early morning. Below approximately 1900 m hardly any snow is lying.
