Avalanche Activity

In very isolated cases weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack on very steep shady slopes.

Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the old snowpack adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of rising temperatures and partly cloudy skies a crust formed on the surface during the last few days. This applies in particular on steep slopes below approximately 2500 m. Snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. Also at intermediate and high altitudes from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack especially on steep shady slopes.
