TO for 24 Jan. Consolidated and stable snow pack. Lingering wet snow instabilities on N thru E to SE aspects above 750m. Hazard Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: The snowpack will continue to thaw and deplete in the milder temperatures. While remaining wet it will continue to consolidate and be generally stable with only some isolated wet snow instabilities remaining on very steep terrain mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Ridge crests and wind exposed slopes have little or very shallow snow cover. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: There will be strong South-South-West winds at first becoming South-West, very strong later. Frequent heavy rain showers at all levels throughout the period. The freezing level is to remain above summit levels. Observed Weather Influences: There have been very strong South-South-West winds with occasional rain showers. Visibility was very poor on the tops. The freezing level was above the summits. ObservedSnowStability: The moist snowpack is continuing to thaw and consolidate at all altitudes. Greatest amounts of snow are on North through East to South-East aspects above 750 metres. Elsewhere the snow pack is increasingly patchy and generally stable with little snow remaining below 550 metres. The avalanche hazard is Low.
