The mostly small wind slabs of the last two days remain in some cases prone to triggering at high altitude. As a consequence of the moderate wind the wind slabs will increase in size moderately from early morning. Single winter sport participants can release avalanches, caution is to be exercised in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas on steep slopes. In high Alpine regions these avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall above approximately 2300 m. As the day progresses as the moisture increases there will be a gradual increase in the danger of moist avalanches. As a consequence of new snow and wind small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are to be expected. They can be released in near-surface layers. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep slopes at intermediate and high altitudes.
5 to 10 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell on Friday above approximately 2300 m. At high altitudes and in high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In some cases the various wind slabs have bonded still only poorly with the old snowpack, in particular at high altitude. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to gradual moistening of the snowpack below approximately 2800 m. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in shady places that are protected from the wind, especially above approximately 2400 m.
The fresh snow and very particularly all the wind slabs represent the main danger. The avalanche danger will persist.
